The new content email
Publishing sends your members an email a few hours later. What it says, who gets it, and how to stop it.
- courses
- audio
When you publish a lesson, a course, a guide or an audio track, your members get an email telling them about it. This is on for every plan, including the free one.
It does not send immediately. It waits four hours from your first publish.
Who gets it
Every member with access who has not opted out, including you and your admins. Yours is the receipt: it is how you see what your members saw.
Members opt out from their own account page, under Email, on the setting called New content. Every email also has an unsubscribe link.
There is a daily limit
If one of these emails already went out in the last day, the next batch waits so it lands at least twenty four hours after the last. So publishing every day means at most one email per member per day.
Changing what it says
The subject line is built from what you published: "New lesson: Getting started", or "3 new lessons in Rachel's Reset", or a mix.
To override it, go to Customize, then Emails. You can set a fixed subject line and an intro paragraph, or switch these emails off entirely.
To cancel one before it sends
A card appears on your console Home page saying an email is going out, how many people it will reach, and roughly when. It lists what is in it.
Press Cancel email. Your members are not told about those updates, and re-publishing an item later sends a fresh one.
Or just unpublish the item
Everything is checked again at the moment of sending. If you unpublish something before then, it drops out of the email. If everything in the batch is unpublished, nothing sends at all.
Common questions
A lesson I published is not in the email.
Check that its course is published too. A lesson inside a draft course is dropped from the email, because members could not reach it anyway.
Can I choose exactly when it sends?
No. Four hours after your first publish is fixed. If you need precise timing, switch these emails off in Customize and send a broadcast yourself.
Does it come from my community or from Drry?
It carries your name, your logo and your colours. The sending address is a Drry one, deliberately kept separate from sign-in emails so that unsubscribes and complaints can never affect people's ability to log in.
Do audio tracks and guides trigger it too?
Yes, as long as those tabs are switched on for members. If the tab is off, the item is dropped from the email.
