Host a live session in Drry

Running a video call inside your community: opening the room, what the controls do, and how members get in.

"Host in Drry" means the call happens inside your community rather than on Zoom. Members click through from your Events tab and they are in. No separate app, no account anywhere else.

This needs the Creator plan or higher. On the free plan the option shows as locked rather than hidden, so you can see what it is.

  1. Open the room

From the event in your calendar, press Open host room.

You land in a green room first: check your camera and microphone, pick the right devices, then press Open room.

  2. Members come in automatically

There is no clock on the door. Before you open the room, anyone who arrives sees a waiting screen saying you will start soon, and they are brought in the moment you do. They do not need to refresh.

The room also never closes on a schedule. It ends when you end it.

  3. Run the session

The controls are along the bottom: mute, camera, share screen, raise hand, chat, participants, and record.

Float this call shrinks the video into a corner so you can move around your community while staying in the session.

  4. End it

End closes the room for everyone. Leave just takes you out and leaves it running.

Live video is metered

Your plan includes a number of participant hours per month: twenty on Creator, fifty on Growth. An hour-long call with five people uses five participant hours.

You get a warning at ninety percent, and at one hundred percent new rooms will not start and a call in progress ends with a countdown. Your usage is in Settings.

If you want calls to keep working past your included hours, you can switch on overage billing and set a monthly spend cap. It is off by default, which means the safe thing happens automatically: video stops rather than quietly costing you money.

Common questions

How many people can be in a call?

Twenty five on Creator, one hundred on Growth. Someone arriving at a full room sees a waiting screen that keeps checking, and comes in when a seat frees up. It is not an ordered queue.

What is a webinar and why can I not see the option?

A webinar is a broadcast: you and a few guests on camera, everyone else watching. It needs the Growth plan. The choice between Meeting and Webinar only appears once you have picked Host in Drry, which itself needs Creator, so on the free plan you never see it at all.

Can I get a transcript and summary?

On Growth, yes, with the transcription option. It has to be switched on before you first open the room. Once the room has been opened the setting locks for that event.

Do members need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser. They will be asked for camera and microphone permission the first time.
