Tiers let one community sell more than one thing. Up to three levels can be on sale at a time, each with its own name and its own price, and content can be pointed at a level.

Courses and individual lessons.
Community categories.
Events.
Audio and guides.
Whether somebody can send direct messages at all.
Locked, not hidden
By default, a member below the required level sees the thing locked, with the level that opens it named. That is what sells the upgrade. Hiding it entirely is the other option, and it really does vanish, which is right for something a lower tier should not even know about.
Moving between tiers
Moving up happens immediately, and the member is told what they will be charged before it does. Moving down takes effect at the end of the period they have paid for, and can be reversed until then. A member always sees the rate they are actually on, not the current list price.
Common questions
How many tiers can I sell?
Three at a time. Archiving one frees the slot, and nobody on it is thrown out.
Can I comp somebody into the top tier?
Yes. Grant access from Members and choose the level.
Is the lowest tier the same as my membership price?
Yes. Your community's membership price is the base level, and the tiers sit above it.
