Make a segment from a form answer
Group people by what they answered on one of your forms, then email exactly that group.

- forms
A segment can pick people by their answer to a question on one of your forms. "Answered Burnout to What are you struggling with?" becomes a group you can email, combine with other rules, and watch grow on its own as new people fill the form in.
Open the segment builder
Open Emails & Contacts, then Audiences, and press + next to Segments (or New segment).
Pick the rule
Pick Form answer as the rule, then the form and the question.
Say what to look for
Pick how to compare and what answer to look for, and check the number of people who match at the bottom.
Name it and save
Give the segment a name and save it.
You can also start from the form itself: open the form, go to Responses, and press Segment by this question on any question's summary, or Segment beside one answer. The segment builder opens with the rule filled in.
Which questions work
Questions with set choices and questions that take a number:
One choice or a dropdown: is, or is not, a particular answer.
Several choices: picked, or did not pick, a particular answer.
A checkbox: ticked, or not ticked.
A rating, a scale or a number: is, is not, at least, or at most a number.
A quiz's score: at least, or at most a number.
Every kind except the quiz score also offers answered and left it blank.
Questions where people type their own words cannot be used, because there is no fixed list of answers to match.
Things worth knowing
Each person's latest answer counts. If somebody filled the form in twice, the segment reads their most recent response. That is why a segment's number can be lower than the count on the Responses tab, which counts every response. Past responses count straight away, not only new ones.
Only people who filled the form in can match. "Is not Burnout" means "answered, and picked something other than Burnout". People who never filled it in are not in it.
Renaming a choice is safe. Rename "Stressed" to "Burnout" on the form and the segment follows: it matches people who picked either wording.
Removing a choice empties the rule. If you take a choice off the form, a rule looking for it matches nobody (including "is not"), and the segment builder says so until you pick another answer. The same goes for a deleted form or question.
A form or question a segment uses cannot be deleted. Change or delete the segment first. Drry tells you which segments are in the way.
Answers from a booking or a paid checkout count once the person is a contact, which happens when the booking or payment completes.
To tag people by what they answer, instead of grouping them, see Create your first form. For how segments differ from lists and tags, see Lists, segments and tags: which do I want?
