Your blog's address and homepage

Give your blog its own word instead of /blog, use your own domain, and make the blog the page your whole site opens on.

Your blog lives at /blog on your community's address, for example yourname.drry.com/blog. Everything about where it lives is in Blog, then Settings.

Your own word instead of /blog

In Address, type a word of your own, like journal or notes, and press Save. Readers then find the blog at yourname.drry.com/journal. The field shows where it will live as you type.

  • Use 2 to 48 lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens.

  • The word cannot be blog or store, cannot start with api, cannot be your bio link's word, and cannot be a word another page on your site already uses. The field tells you which when it refuses.

  • /blog keeps working and forwards to the new address, for good. So does every earlier word you used: Drry remembers the last ten, and the field lists them under Earlier addresses that forward here. A link in an old email, a social post or a search result keeps working after a rename.

  • Leave the field empty to go back to /blog.

Your RSS feed does not move. It stays at /blog/feed, so anyone who subscribed to it keeps getting your posts.

Your own domain

Once you connect your own domain, your blog is served from it too, and search engines are pointed at it. See Connect your own domain. Using your own domain is available on the Creator plan.

Make the blog my homepage

To open your whole site on your blog, turn on Make the blog my homepage in Settings. The blog has to be on first.

  • Visitors who are signed out open on your blog at your address, with a Sign in button beside its name. Signed-in members still land on their member home.

  • The page that was your homepage, a funnel page or your Bio Link & Store, stays live at its own address. Nothing is deleted or unpublished. The switch tells you where it stays.

  • Your blog is also still reachable at its own address. Search engines are told your homepage is the main one, so the blog is not listed twice.

  • If you turn the blog off while it is your homepage, visitors see your join page instead until you turn it back on.

  • Turn the switch off and visitors see your join page again. Any funnel page you want to be home again is set on that page. See Your home page: what visitors see.
