Upload your first video lesson
What to upload, what happens while it processes, captions, and what members get when they press play.

Upload a video straight from your computer and Drry does the rest: it converts it into the versions needed for smooth playback on every connection, pulls a still for the thumbnail, and writes captions from the audio.
You do not need to compress anything first, and there is no limit on file size or length beyond your plan's storage allowance.
Open a lesson and drop the file in
The uploader says "Drop a video here, or upload". MP4 and MOV are the safest choices, and most other formats work too.
A progress bar shows the upload. It resumes by itself if your connection drops, and the browser warns you if you try to leave mid-upload.
Let it process
The card changes to "Getting your video ready". You can carry on editing the lesson, or close the tab entirely. Processing happens on our servers, not in your browser.
Short videos take a couple of minutes. A long recording in high definition takes longer, sometimes considerably. There is no queue position to look at.
Check it is ready
The card becomes a thumbnail with a Ready badge, a duration, and a play button so you can watch it back in place. The captions line changes to say captions are ready.
Add chapters if it is long
Below the video you can add up to thirty chapter markers. Type a time like
4:30or1:02:15and a title. They sort themselves.Members get them as a tappable list under the player, with the current one marked.
Captions
Captions are written automatically from the audio, on every plan, with no setting to switch on. They arrive with the video rather than afterwards.
They are off until a member presses CC. That is deliberate: burned-on captions annoy people who do not want them, and the button is where everyone expects it.
If the machine mishears a name or a technical term, there is a transcript editor on the lesson. You can fix the words, but not the timings. Your corrections survive if the video is ever processed again.
When something goes wrong
"That upload didn't finish" means the file never fully arrived. Press Retry and pick it again.
"Processing didn't finish" means the file arrived but we could not convert it. Press Try processing again, which does not re-upload. If it keeps failing the file is probably damaged. Re-export it from wherever it came from and upload the new copy.
Stuck on processing for over an hour resolves itself. It flips to Failed automatically and you can retry from there.
Common questions
What do members get?
A player that adapts to their connection, with quality and speed controls, chapters if you added them, and captions behind the CC button. Their position saves every few seconds, so they can stop on a laptop and pick up on a phone.
Can I replace a video without redoing the lesson?
Yes. The Ready card has a Replace button. The new one processes like any other.
Can members download my videos?
No. Video is streamed, and the links are signed and short lived. Attachments are downloadable, video is not.
Can I turn a video lesson into audio?
Yes. A ready video lesson has an "Add to audio library" button that pulls out the sound and files it as a draft track.
