The subscribe band is a box at the foot of every post and on your blog's home where a reader leaves their email address to get new posts. It is one of your own forms, so the people who sign up land in your contacts like anyone else who fills in a form. There is no band until you choose a form, and a signed-in reader who is already on its list sees You're subscribed instead.

  1. Open the band's settings

In Blog, open Settings and find Subscribe band.

  2. Pick a form, or make one

Choose one of your published forms from the list. A draft form is listed but cannot be picked until you publish it in Forms. Or press Make one for me: Drry makes and publishes an email-only form that puts people on a list named after your blog, like Blog subscribers, with a Subscribe button and the message You're subscribed, and picks it for the band. It is an ordinary form afterwards: the link under the picker, which reads Edit and your form's name in Forms, opens it. If your plan has no room for another form, Drry says so, and you can pick one you already have. See Create your first form.

  3. Write its words

Heading and Line under the heading are yours to write. Left empty, the heading is Get new posts by email and the line is One email when something new goes up. Unsubscribe any time. If you have switched off emailing new posts, the default line reads Hear from us by email. Unsubscribe any time. so the band never promises an email nothing sends.

  4. Press Save

The band appears on your blog while the blog is on.

The form has to put people on a list

The form needs Add them to an audience turned on, under The outcome in Forms. Without it there is nobody to count and nobody to email, and the switches below the band are greyed with that reason. Make one for me always does it.

Show how many have subscribed

Off by default. Switch it on and readers see a line like Join 1,284 readers under the band's heading. It is left out until the first person subscribes.

Where your subscribers are

They are contacts on the form's list. Find the list in Emails, on the Audiences tab. See Lists, segments and tags: which do I want?.

Bring subscribers from another platform

Subscribers do not come across with an import of your posts. Bring your list in as a CSV from Emails, on the Audiences tab, with Import, and put those people on the same list the band's form adds to. Import only people who agreed to hear from you, and bring your unsubscribes too. See Import your contacts from another platform.

Take the band down

Choose No band in the list and press Save. Turning the whole blog off takes the band with it.

To email your subscribers when a post goes live, see Email new posts to your subscribers.
