Members and roles
Owner, admin and member: what each can do, how to promote someone, and what a downgrade does to your admins.
- members
- moderation
Your member list is under Members in the sidebar. It shows everyone, with search, filters and a CSV export.
There are four roles.
Owner
You. One per community, and it cannot be transferred. The owner can do everything, and some things only the owner can do:
Connect Stripe and set the membership price
Change the Drry plan
Connect a custom domain
Change anyone's role
Grant or revoke free access
Delete the community
Admin
A trusted helper. Admins reach the whole console and can moderate, manage members, write courses and run events. They cannot do anything in the owner list above, and they cannot remove another admin.
Admins need the Growth plan, up to ten of them.
Editor
A build seat. Editors write courses, guides, funnels and emails, and change your branding. They do not get the member list, direct messages, the moderation queue, analytics, the store, payments or settings, and they cannot host a live room. It is the right seat for a contractor building your course.
Editors need the Growth plan, and there is no limit on how many you have.
Member
Everyone else. In the community itself, owners are labelled Host rather than owner.
Promote someone
Members page, find the person, and use the row menu to make them an admin or an editor. Owner only, and Growth only.
On a lower plan the option is still there and explains what Growth gives you rather than hiding it.
Change someone's handle
Members cannot change their own @handle after they pick it, but you can, from their row. Handles are unique within your community, so the same person can be @sam here and @sam elsewhere.
Give someone free access
Grant free access at the top of the Members page. Owner only.
They need a Drry account first. If you get a message saying no account uses that email, ask them to sign in to your community once, then grant it.
Common questions
Can I transfer ownership?
Not from the console. Email hello@drry.com.
Do admins count towards my member limit?
No. Your member limit counts customers. You, your admins and your editors hold team seats and sit outside it, so a Growth community with ten admins still has all 2,500 member places.
Can an admin see my Stripe balance?
They can reach the Settings page but payments, pricing, plans and domains are all owner only.
What does a member see about other members?
Their handle, display name, avatar and whatever profile fields you switched on. The member directory, which lets them browse each other, is off by default and lives in Customize under Members.
