Create your first form
Building a form, choosing what happens after someone submits it, and putting it where people will see it.
- forms
A form collects an email address and does something with it. That something is up to you: add the person to a list, send them a file, show them a thank you message, or all three.
Forms live under Funnels, on the Forms tab. The free plan includes one form. Creator and Growth are unlimited.
Press New form and pick a starting point
Four presets: General form, Waitlist, Contact form, and Lead magnet. They differ in which fields are there to start with and what the submit button says.
Pick the closest one. Everything is editable afterwards.
Set up your fields
The left panel is your field list. Email is always there and cannot be removed, because a form with no email address is not much use.
Add a field and you get a menu of types: short text, long text, name, phone, number, date, single choice, multi-select, dropdown, rating, checkbox, plus headings and text blocks for wording between questions.
Each field can be set to Off, Optional or Required. Ask for as little as you can get away with. Every extra required field costs you signups.
Choose what happens next
The right panel is titled The outcome. Three cards.
Add them to an audience. This is the one that matters most. Pick an existing list or type a new name. If you ever want to follow up automatically, this must be filled in, because a list is the only thing an automation can watch.
Deliver a freebie. Upload a file if you are trading something for the email address.
After they submit. Your thank you message, an optional confirmation email, and an option to email yourself every time someone fills it in.
Publish
Press Publish at the top right. Drry checks a few things first and tells you exactly what is missing if something is: a freebie with no file attached, a choice field with no options, or a freebie with no way to reach anyone.
When it goes live you get the public link and a copy button.
Where to put it
Once published, your form is reachable four ways.
Its own page. Your community address followed by
/f/and the form's name. Good for sharing in a bio or a DM.On a funnel page. Open a funnel, add a Form section, pick this form.
On your bio link page. Add it as a lead magnet item.
On your own website. The Published menu has Copy embed code, which gives you a snippet that works on Squarespace, Wix, WordPress and anything else that accepts HTML.
Common questions
Where do submissions go?
Two places. The person becomes a contact under Emails, on the Audiences tab. Their actual answers are on the form's own Responses tab, which you can export as a CSV.
Can I change the form's web address after publishing?
You can, but every link you already shared will stop working. There is no redirect from the old address. Drry warns you before you save.
Does Drry stop spam submissions?
Yes. There is a hidden field bots fill in and humans do not, a rate limit per visitor, a bot check, and a rejection of temporary throwaway email addresses. Addresses at domains that cannot receive mail are refused with a spelling suggestion.
Can I use a form for something other than opt-ins?
Yes. The Contact form preset plus "Email me each response" makes a perfectly good enquiry form or a survey.
