How email works in Drry
The four kinds of email your community sends, which of them a member can switch off, and who they appear to come from.
- overview
Email is not one feature here. Four different things send mail, they follow different rules, and knowing which is which saves a lot of confusion.
1. Account email
Sign-in codes, receipts, booking confirmations, cancellation notices. Nobody can unsubscribe from these, because they are the mechanics of an account somebody chose to have. They always go out, even to somebody who has opted out of everything else.
2. New content emails
When you publish a lesson, a course or an audio track, your members are told. Batched, so publishing six things does not send six emails. Members can switch these off individually. Available on every plan, free included.
3. Broadcasts
The emails you write and send to a chosen audience. Marketing, so they carry an unsubscribe link, and they respect your do-not-email list.
4. Journeys
Automated sequences: a welcome series, a nurture sequence after somebody downloads a freebie, a win-back after somebody goes quiet. Same rules as a broadcast. Available on the Creator plan.
Common questions
Can a member unsubscribe from everything?
From marketing, yes, with one click. They cannot unsubscribe from sign-in codes and receipts, and you would not want them to.
Do my admins get the member emails?
You and your team receive the new content emails too, which is the simplest way to see exactly what a member got.
Where do I set the reply address?
Replies come back to you. Connecting your own sending domain is what makes the whole thing, including the address people see, yours.
