Every published post is public and can be found by search engines. Drry does the plumbing: each post has its own address, a title and description, a picture for link previews, and an entry in your blog's sitemap, and your blog has an RSS feed. You only choose the words.
Post settings
In the editor, press Settings in the top bar. It has two tabs.
Post holds the Link, who the post is By, its Categories, the Excerpt and Feature this post.
Search holds the Search title (up to 70 characters) and Search description (up to 200 characters), with a preview of how the result may look.
What shows where
Title. Search results and link previews use the Search title, and the post's title when that is empty. Search results show it followed by your community's name.
Description. They use the Search description, then the excerpt, then the opening of the post.
Excerpt. The line under the title on your blog's cards. Up to 400 characters. Empty uses the post's opening.
Picture. A link preview uses the post's cover. A post with no cover is shared with your community's own card instead, drawn in your colours, wordmark and logo with the blog's name and headline on it.
The link
The link is the last part of the post's address: yourname.drry.com/blog/your-post. It uses lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, up to 80 characters. To change it, type in the Link field and press Save beside it. Unlike the rest of the post, the link applies at once, even on a live post. A post that has been live keeps its old link working: it sends readers to the new one.
The link of a draft that has never been published follows its title, so a post you title Why sleep matters goes live at /blog/why-sleep-matters. A link you typed yourself is never moved.
If you use your own domain
Once your domain is connected and verified, your posts' addresses and the addresses search engines are told about use it. See Connect your own domain (available on the Creator plan).
RSS
Your blog's feed is at /blog/feed, and a link to it sits in the footer of every blog page. It carries your 30 newest posts, newest first, with their excerpts. The feed keeps that address even when you give your blog a word of your own.
Common questions
Do changes to the excerpt or search text go live at once?
On a live post they wait for Update, like the words of the post. The link, categories, authors and Feature this post apply at once. See Edit a published post.
Are drafts and scheduled posts visible to search engines?
No. Only published posts are public, and only while the blog is on. A blog that is off answers nothing and is left out of the sitemap.
