Design your receipt, download and refund emails
Replace the built-in emails your buyers get with your own design, for the whole store or one product, and the parts every one must keep.

When someone buys from your shop, claims a free download or is refunded, Drry emails them. By default that is Drry's own built-in email. You can swap it for an email you design yourself, in the same email editor you use for everything else, and decide where the download button, the order summary and the other parts of the purchase sit inside it.
There are three emails you can design:
Receipt email: sent after a paid purchase.
Download email: sent to someone who claims a free product.
Refund email: sent when a purchase is refunded. A free product is never refunded, so it has none.
This works on every plan. These emails count toward your monthly emails and always send, even when your emails run out. See Your send allowance.
Set it once for the store, or per product
A buyer gets the product's own email if it has one, otherwise your store's email, otherwise the built-in one.
For the whole store. Open Bio Link & Store, then the Products tab, and scroll to the Store emails card under your refund policy. It has three pickers: Receipt email, Download email (free products) and Refund email. Every product without its own pick sends these.
For one product. Open the product to edit it. The Their receipt email row (Their download email on a free product) and the Their refund email row sit near the bottom. Each row says what it falls back to, for example Your store's receipt email (Spring receipt) or The built-in receipt. A new product has to be created first.
Only the community owner can choose these emails. Picking one saves at once. It does not wait for the product's own Save button.
Start from a letter that is already written
On any of those rows, press Write a new receipt email (or download email, or refund email). Drry makes a starter email, attaches it to that product or to the store, and opens it in the email editor. It is a short thank-you letter with the parts of the purchase already placed in it, and the product's name works in the subject from the first keystroke.
Or pick an email you wrote earlier in the picker. It only appears as available if it already holds the parts that kind of email needs, explained below.
Write it in your own words
Change the subject, the words and the look like any other email. To move or add a part of the purchase, press Add block and use the From the purchase group at the top of the menu. Each one fills itself in for each buyer, where you put it. An email holds one of each.
Delivery: their download button and how long it works, or your instructions for a service. Any add-on in the same order is listed here with its own link, and a free download gets its get-it-again link here too.
Receipt table: what they bought and what they paid. It shows nothing on a free product.
Refund policy: your refund policy, when the product has one.
What's next: your community invitation or the add-on you offer, when there is one.
Refund details: when the money lands and the refund record.
Send yourself a test
From the send menu, choose Send a test to yourself. The inserts fill in with a sample order so you can see the finished layout, and the download link in it is a sample, not a working one.
That is all
There is nothing to publish. From the next purchase on, buyers get this email. At the top of the editor a note says which product or store email you are editing, with a Back to your products link. On your product list, a product with its own email carries a Custom receipt, Custom download email or Custom refund email tag.
The parts every email needs
A buyer must always get what they paid for, so each kind of email has to keep certain parts:
A paid product's receipt email must hold Delivery and Receipt table. Refund policy and What's next are optional.
A download email must hold Delivery.
A refund email must hold Refund details, and takes no other part. Refund details do not fill in on a receipt, so they are refused there.
In the editor, a required part shows Required in the Add block menu, and its remove button is locked with the reason. The picker lists an email that is missing a part greyed out, with what it needs, for example Needs Delivery and Receipt table, so you are told why before you click. Saving an email that is in use without a required part is refused, naming the part.
The From the purchase blocks are only offered on an email that is already a receipt, download or refund email, or one that already holds some. A plain email from your list cannot become a receipt by adding blocks. Use Write a new instead, or duplicate an existing receipt.
Emails that cannot be used
The picker leaves out, or refuses, an email that:
has already been sent, or is being sent. A sent email is frozen. Duplicate it and use the copy.
is already used by something else: an automation, a signup form, a form's confirmation, a session type's booking confirmation, or a blog post that sends it at launch. Duplicate it and use the copy.
is already your receipt somewhere and would now be a refund email too, or the other way round. A receipt and a refund email say opposite things to a buyer.
An email that is scheduled can be picked, and the picker warns you that picking it cancels that send.
The other way round holds as well. An email that holds a purchase part cannot be sent as a broadcast, used in an automation, or used as a form or booking email, because there is no purchase to fill it in from. And you cannot delete an email that a product or the store uses. Pick another one, or the built-in email, first.
Common questions
Can a product use the built-in email when my store has its own?
No. A product with no pick follows the store, and the only other choice is an email of its own. Remove the store's pick if you want the built-in email back for everything.
What happens on an order with an add-on?
The order uses the main product's email, and its product name. The add-on's download is listed in full inside the Delivery part.
I attached an email before the parts existed. Is it still sent?
Not until it holds what that kind of email needs. Until then buyers get the built-in email, and the product's row says what to add.
Can my assistant do this?
Yes. It can choose which saved email a product or the store uses, and place the purchase parts in an email, and only the community owner can choose the email. See What an assistant can do.
Does Stripe still send its own receipt?
Yes. Stripe emails its own receipt for the charge as well. Nothing here changes it. See Orders and delivery.
