Removing a member
Exactly what happens to their access and their money. Its own article because it cannot be undone.

Removing someone is on the Members page, in the row menu. It is the strongest thing you can do to a member and it is not reversible from the console.
What happens, in order
Their membership ends. They are no longer in your community.
Their access ends immediately, whatever it came from: a subscription, a lifetime purchase, a payment link, or free access you granted.
If they were paying you, their subscription is set to stop at the end of the period they have already paid for. They are not refunded, and they are not charged again.
Any installment plan they were on stops too.
So they lose access straight away, and their money stops at the natural boundary.
Gentler options
Pause posting stops someone writing without touching their access or their money. Reversible.
Ask them to cancel from their own account page if they simply want to leave.
Refund and remove if you also want to give the money back. The refund is separate and does not happen automatically.
Common questions
Can I add someone back after removing them?
They can rejoin like anyone else, and you can grant them free access. Their old subscription does not come back and they will need to pay again if your community is paid.
Do their posts disappear?
No. What they wrote stays in the feed. Remove individual posts if you need them gone.
Does removing free up a place against my member limit?
Yes, immediately.
Can an admin remove people?
Admins can remove regular members. Only the owner can remove an admin.
